The official Sideways Resident DJ with his first single ‘Worth it?’ to be released soon.
1) Influences?
My dad used to DJ at roller-discos in the local sports centre so possibly him? In terms of my musical tastes, albums by groups like Orbital, Underworld, The Orb or Future Sound of London really got me appreciating electronic music. And when i was very young i loved Queen.
2) Tell us about your DJ / production history
Got into DJ-ing through my brother, who used to mix Drum & Bass. I started buying house records, played a few house parties and it just snowballed from there really. I was into the big-beat scene around the late 90′s, but when i started DJ-ing i was mostly playing funky house, and experimented with breakbeat a few years later. In terms of production, I studied music tech & music production at college.
3) How would you describe your style?
Deeper than yours.
4) What is your preferred media / tech?
A Macbook running Traktor & Pioneer CDJs for DJ-ing, Logic & Ableton for production.
5) Current influences?
Labels like Buzzin Fly, Simple & Kompakt always seem to be consistent for my house & tech moods, also currently into a lot of dubstep style sounds from producers like Ramadanman, Martyn & Appleblim.
6) Favourite clubs?
Loved Fabric since I first went at the tender age of 18, loved The End (not been since it re-opened though), and had one of the best nights of my life at La Terraza, the open air club in Barcelona.
7) 5 Words that best describe you?
Friendly, Introverted, Lazy, Inspired, Hungry.
